The Toronto film festival concluded recently. And based on history, some films that are well received here went on to become Oscar Contenders. Films like 'American Beauty' and 'Slumdog Millionaire' which premiered at the festival went on to win Best Picture in the Oscars.
Here are some films that were well received and the possible nominations they may get in the Oscars.
The Black Swan Possible Nominations: Best Actress(Natalie Portman)
127 Hours Possible Nominations: Best Actor(James Franco)
Hereafter Possible Nominations:Best Picture, Best Actor(Matt Damon), Best Director(Clint Eastwood)
Unfortunately, I couldn't find a trailer for the big winner in the festival. "The King's Speech" is said to be a definite contender for Best Picture and Best Actor(Colin Firth). I'll post the trailer here should I find one.
I heard about this movie being made some time ago. It stars Mark Whalberg, Christian Bale and Amy Adams. It's a real life underdog story of a boxer(Whalberg) and his brother(Bale).
Looks like it's not a typical boxing movie. Seems there's a lot of drama involved in this movie too. And I can't believe how frighteningly thin Christian Bale is in this one.
